Choose to Trust God Fully
“Lord , I pray that it won’t rain…but just in case, I brought my umbrella”
When we pray for no rain but also prepare for rain, it's like saying, “I believe God can do it, but I’m not sure He will.” We might have partial trust—trusting God in some areas of our lives but holding onto control in others. This can reveal areas where we still doubt God’s provision or question His ability to meet our needs.
In contrast, fully trusting God means not needing that "just in case" plan. It doesn’t mean we don’t make reasonable preparations, but it does mean we trust that God has a plan for us, even if things don’t go as expected. There’s no room for the “what ifs” because our faith is not contingent upon what happens. It's based on who God is and His ability to act for our good, even in uncertain circumstances.
If we always carry our “umbrella,” we may miss out on experiencing the peace that comes from trusting God without contingencies. Trusting God completely invites us to rest in His goodness, His faithfulness, and His timing — not just praying for the rain to stay away, but also trusting that whatever happens, God is with us.
